Our warm up today is a song about all the information we covered in Chemistry so far. As we were reading, students highlighted all the information we have covered.
Here are the conclusion questions to the lab: •Did an exothermic or endothermic reaction occur with baking soda and vinegar? How do you know? •Did an exothermic or endothermic reaction occur with peroxide and yeast? How do you know? •How do you know that there is a chemical reaction in these two labs? •What gases do you think were created in each reaction? What makes you think that? (Think bout how the flame reacted) 0inally, we did a blendspace reviewing exothermic and endothermic. Here is the assignment. Do not write on the handout, please answer the questions on page 30. https://www.tes.com/lessons/Ju2rJsroeQpnag/endothermic-and-exothermic-reactions
You will need ear buds to complete the assignment. If you did not finish it in class, please finish for homework. Something is wrong with the link on blendspace for the life warming jacket. Here is the link.

For warm up today, please click following website and read the article, Hotel Horror, Carbon Monoxide Poisoning blamed for deaths in Best Western. Watch the video on that site as well. Then please watch the following video. No warm up folders today, we will be completing today's warm up on page 25 in our notebooks. Title page, "Hotel Horror". In paragraph form, answer the following questions:
Next, we completed our compound models. Each group built, photographed and created a google slides document of the 10 different compounds an shared it with me. For homework, finish the front and back of the Making Models handout, it will be due next class. In our notebook we added notes on Mixtures on the back of page 25. If you were not here today, here are the notes. Then we traveled around the room and looked at a bunch of different chemicals and identified them as elements, compounds and mixtures. HOMEWORK - Finish the back of the compound handout. Due next class.
Warm up today was a review of physical and chemical changes as well as signs of a chemical reaction.
Next we took notes on Compounds on page 25 in our notebooks. If you were absent, here are the notes. Lastly, if we have time, we will start building some compounds using gum drops and toothpicks. As a group you will create a google slide presentation that you will share with me. In addition to the presentation, you will have a handout that has the compounds drawn out.
Warm up today is a review of density and physical and chemical changes. There will be a quiz next class on density and physical and chemical changes. Also next class will be a notebook check, I will be checking pages 11-22. 1.Cover…9 2.Table of Contents…10 3.Intro to the atoms…11 4.Atom Drawings…12 5.Atomic Task Structure…13 6.Metals, NM, metalloids…14 7.Synthetic and Natural…15 8.Metals and nonmetals lab…16 9.Groups on the Periodic Table..17 10. Groups on the PT…18 11. Density of water Lab…19 13. Density…20 14. Density of 3 liquids lab…21 15. Physical and Chemical Properties …22 15. Chemical reactions Lab…23 After our warm up we did a group activity where we took different examples on physical and chemical changes and put them into two groups. These examples were then put in our notebook on the back of page 23. Next we completed the conclusion to the lab from the day before. For the conclusion, answer the questions in paragraph form. •Choose four signs of a chemical reaction. •Describe “real life” chemical reactions where you have seen each of the signs of a chemical reaction. •Explain the difference between a chemical and physical change, including an example. \ Finally, we started a little research on compounds. We used a blendspace to find all of the websites and article for this assignment. The assignment can be found on this handout. Here is the link to the blendspace. https://www.tes.com/lessons/NopX_dSFLRh15g/compounds Our warm up today is a review of physical and chemical changes. If you were out last class, here are the notes for page 22.
Next we did peer evaluations on our element project. Students completed a self evaluation as well as peer evaluation. Grades will be imputed as soon as possible. Finally, we conducted a lab utilizing physical and chemical properties and physical and chemical changes. Students identified some physical properties of 7 chemicals and then saw how the chemicals reacted, looking for the signs of a chemical reaction. Warm up today was a review of density and took a look at the difference between the density of salt water and fresh water. Next we went over the homework and made any corrections. Next, we started our notes on page 22 on physical and chemical changes and notes on the back of page 22 about chemical reactions. Your can find the powerpoint here.
Finally, we conducted a lab utilizing physical and chemical properties and physical and chemical changes. Students identified some physical properties of 7 chemicals and then saw how the chemicals reacted.
Today we reviewed density and the groups on the periodic table during our warm up. We then moved around the room and did a quick review for our test on Tuesday/Wednesday.
